Another Good Day

Another good day, how much can one person take. I went home from work and had my first gift from blogland. I won a drawing over at Carole's at Quilting Adventures. She sent me a great calendar from Thimbleberries, a beautiful quilting log book and a package of buttons. I was so tickled. Also she had a really neat card with it. Thank you so much Carole, you made my day.

Last night was another guild meeting. This guild is called Violet Threads, it is mainly stitching. We met first at a restaurant for dinner, then went to our meeting. Someone at the guild found some original jacks. Needless to say, guess what some of the girls did. How fun.

Tonight I am going to work on finishing the piecing of a quilt that is laying out on my living room floor. I am getting tired of stepping over it. This is what it looks like on the floor. I will show you the finished top when I complete it, which will hopefully be by Friday.

Saturday Fun

What a fun day I had on Saturday. My sewing friends Ilene, Kaye and I went to a quilt shop called Helen's Hen House. This shop is located in Florissant, MO. We left in the morning all piling into Kaye's SUV. We call the SUV "White Lightening". White Lightening is the vehicle we like to take on our field trips. You never know what you might find to buy that you need the extra room.

At Helen's Hen House they have a lot of wool, yarn and really neat displays of Civil War books and fabric. I thought I would share some pictures for those who are interested in the Civil War Quilts.

We ate in the barn which is behind the Hen House. They were fixing BBQ Pork Steaks - WOW they were great. We all really enjoyed ourselves. We did have a mission for the day, it was to go and find wool for our retreat project.

I am the #1 planner for a retreat the last weekend of March. There will only be around 6 of us for the weekend. When I get our retreat project together I will show you. I need to get busy and do some more sewing. I almost have a top together from 2004! Enjoy the rest of your day, I hope you will come back and visit my blog.

This is a picture of Ilene, my best friend.

These are some of the girls that were at the dinner and sew.

I have to go to my guild meeting, enjoy the pictures.

Quilting Weekend

Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments. I was really nervous about starting my blog. What a great weekend, Friday I took a day of vacation from work and went to my local quilt shop, The Quilted Garden. It is only about 5 minutes from my house. I was there from 10am to 9pm sewing. I don't know a better way to spend a vacation day.

Late in the afternoon we had out monthly dinner and sew at the quilt shop. I am planning on taking vacation days on the scheduled dinner and sew day and go up to the shop early and spend the day sewing. I really got alot done.

On Friday I did finish sewing the last 3 out of 5 blocks I have so far for the Quilters Journey quilt. Now I need to mark the blocks and start stitching. I really don't like to trace the patterns! But I do enjoy stitching so I better get busy doing my tracing.

I did get my fall projects done, they are ready for quilting. When I get them back I will show you the completed projects. Saturday my friends and I went to another quilt shop, we go there once a month for Thimbleberries Club.

Sunday my best friend Ilene came over and we sewed from 8:30 to 7:30. I am really putting a great dent in my UFO'S. I finished blocks Sunday that I started in 2004. Now I just need to put the top together. I want to get that done this week.

I am trying to put some pictures of the quilt shop on, but for some reason I cannot put them on. When I am able to I will. I don't think I could have asked for a better weekend. I hope all of you had as much fun as I did.

MY FIRST BLOG!!!!!

Welcome to my blog and Happy Valentines Day. I have been reading all of these wonderful blogs long enough, so I have decided to create a blog myself. I am not very good with the computer, so everyone will have to bare with me.

First let me give you a little background info. Like I said in my profile I am a single mom with two childern. My son is in college and is 21, and my daughter is a senior in High School and is 18. I am single going on 2 years now. My husband of 21 years left one Sunday and didn't come back. I had no idea there was a problem. That Friday I was served with divorce papers. What a shock to my kids and I. The following year he re-married a 27 year old, need I say more? Enough of that storey, my life is really getting better every day, and I have the sparkle back in my eyes.

I started quilting in 2002. I love to quilt, embroider, cross stitch and stamp cards. I am hoping someday to have a room for all of my wonderful hobbies. On the quilting side I still send my projects out to be quilted (longarm) but I do the rest of the process. I have met such nice friends since I have started quilting.I belong to two quilt guilds and one stitching group. I really enjoy going to the meetings, the show and tell is always amazing. I have listed my projects I would like to get done this year. I am really concentrating on completing what I have before buying more, I know boring. Good luck to me. I am sure I will find a lot more UFO'S and list them later. This is a picture of what I am working on now, I thought I would get my fall things done so I can use them this year.

Tomorrow I am going to take a day of vacation and go to my local quilt shop for a small retreat. I will be there all day. Pictures will be hopefully posted on Saturday. I hope everyone will enjoy stopping by and reading my blog.
